About Me, “The Political Pilot”

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I created this blog as a bit of a relief valve to express my views and observations about the current political environment, as well as the direction that our country is headed.

Some generic background about myself, I grew up in Detroit, Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Political Science (concentration in International Relations) from a U.S. Service Academy. I also minored in German. I was a helicopter pilot in the military, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Government (also with a concentration in International Relations) from a local Christian university (which was founded by an evangelical pastor who was a Donald Trump surrogate).

I’ve also been a volunteer Law Enforcement Officer for almost ten years, being influenced by my mother, a retired Detroit police officer. As a sworn volunteer, I’ve served unpaid for my law enforcement service, however I have the same training and LEO authority as my full-time counterparts that I work with.

I was also a foreign exchange student to Germany during my 11th grade year, and remain fluent in German over 20 years later (at least fluent enough to order a Bier, find the bathroom, or debate politics as needed, sometimes doing all three at once).

I have worked as a full-time airline pilot since leaving the active duty military in 2019. After leaving the active duty military, I served in the reserves as a field-grade officer.

Based on my background, experiences and education, I have a unique perspective on conservative bread-and-butter issues, in fact I feel that my background embodies much of the conservative essence: Devout Christianity, public safety service through the military and law enforcement, and personal prosperity through “Good ol’ hard work” that was not result of Affirmative Action or other “handouts”, despite being a black man from Detroit.

It is precisely because of my appreciation of history, understanding of politics, my embrace of traditional GOP core values, and my deep love for the founding ideals of this country, that I became a registered Democrat after Donald Trump won the GOP’s nomination for President in 2016. Donald Trump represented, to me, a dangerous rejection of the very ideals that make-and keep-America the greatest nation in the world. Trump’s actions since 2016 have only exacerbated my fears for this country’s fate.

Now that we face a second Trump term, I’ve decided not to sit by and quietly endure the turmoil to come, but to publicly advocate on behalf of a Free America, particularly from my perspective as a conservative-oriented Black man who, through education and experience in public service, can see both sides of the political coin. Stay tuned and hang on, because it’s going to be an interesting time…
